ICP DAS earns Taiwan Excellence award for 2009

      ICP DAS is delighted to announce that two of its outstanding programmable automation controllers-G-4500 and WP-8841 win Taiwan Excellence 2009.

      Taiwan Excellence award is Taiwan’s highest accolades for product distinction sponsored by Ministry of Economic Affairs, R.O.C. As a first-time participant, ICP DAS is highly recognized in the competition: two products win the prize of Taiwan Excellence Award; demonstrating ICP DAS’s continuing endeavors in development of advanced technology and sustained growth in leading innovation; enables to deliver products with excellent performance, best quality and high stability.

Differed from PLC and PC based controller, these two different controllers have been developed over half-century, but both have their own defects. G-4500
The G-4500 features M2M (Machine to Machine) which is the hottest topic in the 21 century. Instant monitoring, immediate message sharing, quick responding, and so on are becoming the popular issues when speaking of machines. Most importantly, an intelligent, efficient machine effectively lowers your labor cost which always counts the most.

      A compact programmable automation controller plus an antenna makes G-4500 born in the world. With built-in GPRS/GSM, G-4500 does more than just working alone by itself. G-4500 not only monitors the data but sends them out in real time to the control center if necessary.

      Also, by combining a GPS (optional) with G-4500, G-4500 suddenly becomes a tracking system which you can often find out in the car system, marine system, etc.

      Inside G-4500, a high-performance CPU is working over there; outside G-4500, you get the standard interface of an antenna, an Ethernet port, 3 digital inputs, 3 digital outputs, 8 analog inputs, 2 RS-232 COM ports and 1 RS-485 COM port. GPS is optional.

WinPAC-8841
      WinPAC-8841 is the second generation PAC of ICP DAS. It equips a PXA270 CPU (520MHz) running a Windows CE.NET 5.0 operating system, variant connectivity (VGA, USB, Ethernet, RS-232/485) and 1/4/8 slots for high performance parallel I/O modules (high profile I-8K series) and serial-type I/O modules (high profile I-87K I/O modules).

      Its operating system, Windows CE 5.0, has many advantages, including hard real-time capability, small core size, fast boot speed, interrupt handling at a deeper level, achievable deterministic control and low cost. Using Windows CE.NET 5.0 in the WinPAC-8000 gives it the ability to run PC-based Control software such as Visual Basic.NET, Visual C#, Embedded Visual C++, SCADA software, Soft PLC …etc.

      Compared to the first generation WinCon-8000, it not only improves the CPU performance (from 206 MHz to 520 MHz) and upgrading OS (from CE 4.1 to CE 5.0), but also adds many reliability features, such as dual LAN, redundant power input, dual battery backup SRAM, etc. It gives you all of the best features of both traditional PLCs and Windows capable PCs.
