Driver Upgrade: Virtual CAN Driver Ver 3.10 and new functions release.

The new version Virtual CAN driver supports “Group-Sending” APIs for scheduling CAN messages transmission. By applying these APIs, the users could arrange those CAN commands which would be sent in order with specific time interval. Its great and powerful scheduling process helps to control or collect the data from those remote CAN devices. Excepting these new functions, we also provide the powerful software “VxCAN Utility” which includes data logging, diagnosing, event trigger and other useful functions. The VxCAN Utility is based on the Virtual CAN technique which creates virtual CAN ports to match the physical CAN interfaces of the installed ICPDAS CAN products. The VxCAN Utility is able to integrate all CAN master products which are CAN converters and CAN PCI boards of ICP DAS. By using the VxCAN Utility, the users could access different CAN master products to send and receive CAN messages.

 

VxCAN Utility

Works as a CAN Master: The VxCAN Utility provides basic sending and receiving functions. Through these functions, the ICPDAS CAN products, for example the I-7530, a CAN to RS-232 converter, can work as a CAN master to control the CAN slave device as the following figure. Users just need to use the VxCAN Utility to send the corresponding commands of the CAN slave devices, the responses from the slave devices will be shown in the reception list of the utility. If there are several commands needed to be sent sequentially, users can use the “Group-Sending” function to access the slave devices in specific regular time.




Works as a CAN Analyzer: The VxCAN Utility could be a compact analyzer. When users would like to diagnostic the CAN network, the VxCAN Utility provides several useful functions, such as event trigger, data log and bus loading trend. The event trigger can be used to trigger the message transmission, data log or stop of messages reception. Via using an ICP DAS CAN product, for example I-7565-H2, a CAN to USB converter, the utility would be helpful for users to monitor the communication of the network, access the CAN nodes, and diagnose the CAN Bus loading.

Group Sending APIs of Virtual CAN driver

In most of CAN applications, the CAN master sometime iteratively polls entire remote devices with the sequential CAN commands. The new “Group-Sending” functions of the VxCAN driver could help transmitting those sequential CAN commands at specific time interval. Therefore, users would only deal with the replied CAN messages. To implement the group sending functionality, users only need to use the “Group-Sending” APIs to configure and start the transmission. It will simplify the CAN application projects and help to manage CAN devices more efficiently.
