Q
: Does the performance of a RS-232/485 device become faster when
it's moved onto the Internet/Ethernet network?
¡@
Ans
: It depends on your application.
For
the traditional RS-232/485 application, it may become slower.
Traditional
time used : RS-232/485 transmit time (
C )
New
time used : Internet/Ethernet transmit time + RS-232/485
transmit time ( A+B+C )
(
All of the TCP packets need a extra ACK packet to commit the
transmit action. This also causes a little delay in the communication.
)
For
the Xserver application, it may become
faster.
Users
can write their own Xserver application
to acquire and compress data, and then transmit this large amount
of data at one time to receive better performance.
Traditional
time used : RS-232/485 transmit time (
C * n modules )
New
time used : Internet/Ethernet transmit time (
A + B )
